Three queer Puerto Rican artists share an evening of dance, movement and words. Samir Andrades, from Puerto Rico, presents a section of his provocative show Pieles. Indio Melendez offers a mesmerizing tribute to Orisha Ochún and Antonio Ramos delivers boundary-breaking dance.

About Samir Andrades
Since his early years in El Manantial, Samir Andrades has been an artistic prodigy in constant evolution. From creating of dance and modeling groups to becoming a prominent theater producer and director at the young age of 15, his life has been a masterpiece in itself. With theatrical productions such as "Cautivos en Soledad" and "El payaso que educó a los niños," Samir fuses his personal experiences with his art, giving life to authentic and moving projects. In addition, as a collaborator of the Arte Consciente Internacional project, Samir guides other artists to use art as a means of inner transformation. Today, through his " Librepensador" (Freethinker) project, Samir nurtures and educates future writers, encouraging artistic expression at its finest.
About Indio Melendez
Indio Melendez is a Nuyorican Army Veteran of foreign wars, actor, writer, poet, educational theater specialist and visual artist. As an actor, Indio has performed on countless stages across the globe performing his solo productions and ensemble work. A company member of Repertorio Español and having performed with acting troupes including “Universes”. Indio has been recognized and awarded for his work as a playwright and actor, by the Downtown Urban Theater Festival 2011, NYC Hip Hop Theater Festival 2001, Latino ACE Award Association 2001 & 2008.
About Antonio Ramos
Antonio Ramos is a Bessie award-winning dancer, choreographer, and certified bodywork practitioner. He is the Artistic Director of Antonio Ramos and the Gangbangers. His work focuses on emotional and social themes as they manifest through his identity as a queer, HIV+ artist, and Puerto Rican artist who was born on the island. He takes this subject matter, full of darkness and difficulty, and creates joyous, celebratory choreography that harnesses the beauty in life while confronting the audience with challenging themes such as sexuality, the body, and histories of colonization. Ramos holds a B.F.A. in Dance from SUNY Purchase.
